Explore Volvo Construction Equipments full-electric range with the first diesel-free compact loader L25 electric and the compact excavator ECR25 electric, the range was extended to the smaller L20 electric, EC18 electric and ECR18 electric. the compact machines are perfect for the use in landscaping, agricultural sector, urban construction site or indoor applications. On top the electric machines almost work in silence, which is a great comfort for the operator and also brings advantages for urban construction sites during the nighttime.

Electrifying benefits

The compact machine models with fully electric drivelines score with a supercharged efficiency and the best battery technology. The L25s battery is designed to deliver up to 2500 full charge cycles, accounting for the full life expectancy of the machine. The electric machines need less maintenance which leads to a higher uptime. With an average runtime up to 6 hours of active work per charge depending on the environment and task at hand and the quick charging with 0-100% within 2 hours these compact models are ready for action.

NEWS: The L120H Conversion

Volvo is constantly evolving their product range. With the L120H Volvo is testing battery eletric drivelines with mid-size wheel loaders. The machine will be able to convert from a diesel engine to a battery electric drive. The L120H Conversion model will be delivered to selected customers in selected markets in 2023 for testing.

How long does the battery last fully charged?

Depending on the type of job like application and intensity of the work cycles, with a typical stop-start working pattern, you can operate the compact wheel loader L25 electric for up to an 8 hour working day with one single charge.

How long takes the charging of electric construction machines?

With the right charging infrastructure you are able to charge Volvo Construction Equipment electric machine up to 80% in as little as 1-1,5 hours. To be this quick off board charging with 400 VAC 32A is needed.

Do I have adequate charging?

With electric machines, a charging infrastructure is key. For easy overnight charging, it’s strongly recommended to have a 240-volt, 32 amp setup in place — the same as for electric cars. This will provide much quicker charging compared to charging on common household 120V network.

When you say “electric”, does this also include the hydraulics?

Volvos compact electric machines have a fully electric power source and hydraulic cylinders and pumps.

How will operating costs compare against diesel?

With diesel engines, a lot of operating hours are counted while the machine is idle. With an electric, as soon as the operator stops working, the machine turns off and no operating hours are accumulated. When you think about the total cost of ownership, these saved hours can lead to lower daily operating costs.

How will electric machines perform against diesel?

When it comes to power and performance, these machines are either comparable to or exceed their diesel counterparts. The Volvo ECR25 electric excavator and L25 electric wheel loader boast nearly identical specs to their diesel equivalents. The few exceptions, like a the slight increase in continuous motor power for the ECR25, are actually improvements.

How will maintenance of a battery electric compare to diesel?

With an electric machine, there’s no engine-related maintenance. The state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries and electric motors need less maintenance than diesel.

Is there a speacial warranty for electric construction equipment?

All Volvo CE electric machines come with 2 years free servicing and a 2 year full machine warranty, so you can experience all the benefits of Volvo’s electric revolution with complete peace of mind. Furthermore, by signing up for a maintenance agreement after year 2, the battery and electronic components are covered free of charge against defects for a further 3 years.
